Drama Club Cute

Drama Club Cute by bowenmariah featuring lips makeup

Since I was in drama club in high school and am currently studying theatre in college, I figured I would offer more explanation for the look. Most of us have a silhouette that we go to when we want to look nice. It generally falls along the lines of anything you find on ModCloth. To pull off a more professional look but still express our creativity, there has to be a bright, structured blazer in there.

Since we're a busy bunch running from classes to lessons to rehearsals, we have to have a carryall. Of course, it displays our dreams on the outside. Since our day may end in rehearsals, we must have our character shoes on our feet. Yes, we do rehearse/dance in 2"-3" heels. This is how 6" heels don't bother me just walking to class. And yes, they generally look like that. They usually don't have cutouts though.

To complete the outfit, there has to be an accessory with the masks of drama and comedy. This is actually an unwritten rule among my high school drama club. If you were a real thespian, you had something from the state Thespian Conference with those masks. I have a ring that I wear so much, it's formed to my finger. And the classic red lip. Drama club kids take their makeup seriously, even the boys. We go through so much just doing one show.

So there you have it. Have you ever seen a theatrical production, professional or amateur? What was it and what did you think of it?

  1. I love this outfit inspiration post! As a fashion major myself, I get to see a lot of the arts students (theatre too!) and I'm always admiring their outfits. I've seen a lot of theatrical productions..but my favorite was Chicago that I saw in NYC. It was so fantastic! I realllly want to see Mamma Mia!, though!

  3. 2-3 inch heels for practice! Do you know why? Even so, they're really cute! Anyway, thank you for providing some theatre major insight. It's really interesting that everyone has some sort of piece with the masks of drama and comedy. And how everyone takes makeup really seriously because you use so much! I really didn't know that so thank you for sharing!

  4. We rehearse in what we perform in! That's why we wear those. Usually we don't pull the heels out until the last couple weeks, but it's not uncommon in professional rehearsals.
